Project Details
5795 Yonge St, is in North York, known as Turnberry Court. This building is home to a very mixed demographic and the scope included all corridors, Lobby and Party Room. Our intent was to maintain the comfortable human scale while completely transforming the space from traditional and heavy in style to contemporary-sleek and clean.
Challenges: The corridors had unusual textured stucco walls which our team hand skimmed. The lobby floors were tiled with thick natural green marble which required deep excavation and new poured concrete to level throughout. Ducts in the ceiling where a cove reveal was planned sent the team back to the drawing board to make adaptations to save the intended floating ceiling look.
Once walls were smooth, the team applied wallpaper and the board decided to keep the existing tile suite entry accent, while changing out all wall sconces and door hardware in addition to painting the suite doors and refreshing the thresholds.
The lobby was completely excavated to the foundation, and revived with a new floor with precision-cut linear accents and new backlit decorative millwork on the walls and behind the custom-made concierge desk. The party room received a refresh from its “peach-and-parquet” era as well, now transformed into an updated and functional space with hits of glamour and quality materials.
